Salt? DFS Group Order

I'm ready to place an order with DFS for a bunch of supplies. I just thought I'd ask if anyone needs salt. They've got the 160g tubs of IO and RC on sale for 29.50 and 32.00 respecitvely. DFS has fixed cost shipping, so if you wanted to piggyback on my order we could do a pro-rata split of the shipping costs which would really bring your cost down, possibly to about $2 per bucket if we had enough interest.

Just lemme know if you're interested. I'm gonna place the order very soon, like later today or tomorrow.

Sorry for the late follow-up -- I was watching the dog show on TV.

Yeah, I realize that the short lead time doesn't help much. If I were planning ahead for a group order I would have set a later deadline, but it turns out that I have a pressing need for a couple of things, so I've really got to order sooner than later. I'd be happy to do this again in a couple of months if that helps everyone. Optimally, if the next time we do this it would be good to get an order together for 10 or more buckets. The shipping cost would be $18, and for 10 buckets that would bring the per bucket shipping cost down to just under $2.

If anyone's interested in picking up salt on this order, I'm in Hobart, not very far from the intersection of I-65 and 80/94. Someone is just about always home, so pickup could be in the daytime or the evening.

If we only have two people who are each looking for 1 bucket of salt, how about chipping in $3 for shipping? I figure I'll just pay the bulk of the shipping cost since I need to place an order anyway.

Joe, Scott, you have PM.

Shawn is in on the order, but I haven't heard back from Joe or Scott about salt.

Anyone else?

If you are close to a Petsmart, they honor online prices. I picked up a bucket of Coralife salt last week for $31 (They had it marked at $49). I know they carry IO salt as well and will honor the DFS price. That way you don't have to worry about shipping at all, unless you are getting a bunch of other stuff as well.

Thanks. As it turns out I'm getting a bunch of other stuff that I can't find locally, so I'll have to place the order anyway. The nice part about a group order is that when you split the shipping, it can be cheaper than buying locally and paying tax. that matters for penny pinching cheapskates like me who are in the startup phase, and are trying to stretch the budget as far as possible.

I could go on and on in a rant about fighting with the manager to get price matching at Petsmart. That's the subject for another thread.

OK, I've got @Fuppets and @scottdwh in on the group buy. I'm still waiting to hear from @poo-tang.

If anyone is interested, lemme know ASAP as I'll be sending the order in first thing tomorrow morning.

Just a heads-up to let you guys know that I got the DFS order placed today. I didn't get it done last night because it was Valentine's Day and I just ran out of time.

Since its already Friday, I'm guessing that they won't be shipping until early next week at the soonest. If that's the case, we might get lucky and have the stuff arrive by next Friday and I could deliver it at Scott's house at the meeting on 2/23.

Your PM box is full--empty your Sent mail too. Did you know you could have gotten 6% back on your DFS order if you went through Ebates.com? Another $10 off for giving them my referral email.

Didn't realize that my PM box had filled up already -- I just finished emptying it a week ago. Sorry about that. Is there a feature on the site that allows you to view what the "%full" status is of your mailbox? It would be handy to have a way of knowing when the box fills up. If there's supposed to be a notification method, it doesn't seem to be working for me.

Regaqrding DFS coupons, I checked everywhere for a DFS coupon code prior to sending in my order. I checked out all of the places that Google provided for coupon codes. It seems that DFS flushed away all of their existing coupon codes -- there was even a thread in the CMAS forum about that, so I didn't have any coupons to use on my last order.

I have never heard about ebates.com. Their web site doesn't seem to allow you to find out whether or not any store is a participating merchant until AFTER you register with them. The site would be much more enticing if they made their merchant list freely viewable.

thanks for the help!

That's weird... definately does have DFS on their list of merchants. I got a fat rebate of $56 into my Paypal acct, 3 months after my last order.
