Salt Mixes

Im trying Reef Crystals now. Good salt. If Im a bit short on cash and need salt, I always go for regular IO. I may try Seachem next.

I think since they are so close in price you have to just pick one and stick with it. I did a quick calculation on TM mailorder versus buying seachem locally. 200gallons @ 31¢ a gallon to mix TM or 28¢ for the seachem maybe close to 29¢ with tax. So you can see its not a massive savings and nobody is going broke with either one.
Now IO would be 21¢ or less a gallon depending on where purchased. So on a 100 gallon tank doing 10 gallons a week you are saving $1 a week............ heck thats huge :)

Anyway, salt discussions are always useless and the debate goes on.................................

I used Tropic Marin Reef Pro while I was in Cleveland because we had a LFS that carried it and I loved it. I was able to get if for around $55 a bucket which was more than I really wanted to spend but for what I was seeing in my tank, it wasn't outragous. The $75 a bucket I have seen TM going for locally, IMO is nuts. So when I set my tank back up after the move I have been using Seachem's Reef salt and am pretty pleased with its peformance.

From what I have read and heard its not so much the specific salt you are using but its consistancy in the salt you use. You could use the bottom of the barrel salt consistantly and have better results than someone who uses a little better salts but is always changing brands.
