Salt

Anyone know a good place to get some salt buckets in eastern IA. Locally Petco has them for $62 and that's outrageous. Found them online for $41 after shipping but was wondering if anyone had a good deal around the area. I am located in Dubuque but am willing to drive a little bit.

Salt

You can buy Instant Ocean salt from www.DrsFosterSmith.com (1-800-443-1160). The cost on their current sale is $31.99 if you use part number WX-16881 (160 gallon mix). Also Reef Crystals price is $34.99 using part number WX-16882 (160 gallon mix)I believe the shipping cost is still based on the price paid, not the weight. So you can't beat it, and its shipped to your door.

You may want to act soon as I think the sale may end today.

Good luck

Jeff

Better yet, if you have a Pet Smart locally (we do in Cedar Rapids), Go to the Dr. Fosters & Smith website and print out the page that has the Instant Ocean salt on sale.

Take it to Pet Smart and they will match the price. The only bad thing is that they don't carry Reef Crystals.

lol we have a Petsmart opening here in 2 weeks....damn. So Petsmart price matches internet offers? But the Dr Fosters is the one I mentioned about $42 shipped i saw online. I was just hoping I could find some buckets locally and not pay for shipping. OH well. thanks guys.

Yep, at least the one in Cedar Rapids does... I've bought a lot of salt from them and have never had a problem.

I even bought one of those H.O.T. filters from them when it went on sale at F&S... I ended up paying less than half the price that Petsmart had it marked.

Petco on the other hand won't even match the prices on thier OWN website, so I wouldn't bother with them.

Just for the record, I still try to buy locally when possible in order support our LFS's (like Pet's Playhouse and Sea of Marvel).

However, the reality is that I have a budget for this hobby, so I have to do what allows me to make the most of that budget.

I will be in dubuque next weekend, if you can wait I can bring a bucket up from SoM. I am heading there today after work to grab myself one.

Do reef crystals dissolve as fast as oceanic? I'd use instant ocean, especially as cheap as you can get it, but it drives me nuts to wait for salt to dissolve

IIRC, $40-45. That is about what I paid last time. The sponsers link doesnt work on the home page so I am not 100% sure.

Anyone know if Petsmart honors their website prices in-store?
Instant ocean is 31.99 on website but it is like 42.00 in store.

thanks
