Saltwater mixing station pump question

I plan on doing a single barrel brute 32 gallon trash can for my saltwater mixing station. It will be located in my basement and I've measured and i will need roughly 45-50 of tubing to get from the basement to the tank.

Not worrying about a barrel for RO DI water since i just make it in 5 gallon jugs and use it for top off,but i am getting tired of carrying four 5 gallon jugs up the stairs weekly to do water changes.

Now my question is what kind of pump would be best suited for the job? It's going to have to pump up about 6-7 feet and then the rest of the way to the sump.

I was thinking a mag 12 but was wondering if a mag 9 would be good enough or not.

I plan on plumbing it 3/4 pvc inside the barrel then on the outside of the barrel connecting a barb fitting to the pvc that will then connect to 1/2 tubing.

It's really about time. A mag 9 will get it done but a mag 12 will get it done faster. Since its not used a lot and not a piece of life support I would buy a cheap brand with a high capacity. If money is not am object than buy the biggest pump to get the job done faster.

Personally, I use an external pump to get water up from my basement. Then again, I'm pumping it up to the second floor.

A Jebao DC pump might be another option. I believe the higher output ones are rated for quite a lot of back pressure.

Another reason i was wanting to go with the mag 9 was because that is the pump i use in my current tank so if it ever breaks down i can always have the saltwater mixing pump as my main backup if needed. I just want to make sure the mag 9 is capable of pumping the distance that i need it to pump. I'm not to concerned on how long it takes because it will be 5x faster at least then my current way of doing water changes.

I assume you mean a mag 9.5 I don't think they make a mag 9

The MAG 9.5 can pump 450gph at 10 feet vertical head pressure so you should be more than good if you are only pumping up about 7 feet. Horizontal is not going to affect head pressure much so you are good to go!

I say get the mag 9.5 so you have a backup if need be.

Mag 9.5 works fine for me. I have to pump ~ 45 ft to get from mix tank to the sump (however mix tank and sump / DT all in basement so no head loss).

I use a mag 18 to get water from the basement to the first floor. Anything smaller just takes too long.

I leave the bypass (in the mix tank) in the ~50% position all the time and it prob takes 2-3min to pump ~20gal the 45ft to my sump.
