Saltwater Molly/ fancy tail Guppies show refugium build

This is from Dr. Tim's Website:

I have a Brackish water tank "“ which bacteria is for me?

The choice of whether to use the Freshwater One & Only or the Saltwater One & Only bacteria in a brackish water tank depends upon the salinity (or specific gravity [S.G.]) of your water.

If your salinity is less than 10 ppt (1.007 S.G.) then use the freshwater formula.

If your salinity is greater than 10 ppt (1.007 S.G.) then use the saltwater formula.

Hm, I suppose Im a little bit past the threshold for saltwater. If the LFS carries this or similar Ill buy a bottle very soon. Ill probably add a live rock into the set up as well and some live sand to seed everything.

Hey guys, UPDATE:

Salinity today hit the 1.020 mark :D I am basically already full strength.(ish).

I placed a LR piece from my main tank into the refugium so that it begins seeding the base rock.
Next week or so I will get the overflow and connect it to the main tank. Perhaps I will wait until I get some different assortments of Algae from Reefcleaners before fully connecting the tank.
However I will probably transfer 3 mollies into the main Display.

Here is what it currently looks like

What kind of substrate is that? Tank looks good btw!

I totally forgot the name of it. I wanted dry sand and this is the only kind the LFS had in stock, It was originally made for freshwater aquariums but it works well for this too.

and thank you :D it still pretty empty, but soon will look like a real show refugium! i hope

Update: So tank is basically full saltwater now. All the mollies seem to have transitioned pretty well. Unfortunately I've lost 2 guppies so far. Im hoping the remaining two stay alive.
I will do another water change tomorrow and then connect it to the main tank sometime next week once some macro algae arrives.
Bummer about the guppies though. I thought that an extended acclimation (of nearly 2 weeks) would increase survival rate for these guys.

Sounds like it is going well. Sorry to hear about the guppies. I lost a molly doing the saltwater transition it is tough I felt terrible :(

Looking forward to pics with the macro in it

yeah, from the two guppies that are still alive, 1 isnt looking too good. He has some nipped fins so makes me wonder if they were being bullied by the mollies somehow and the transition to salt had nothing to do with it:uhoh2:

All the mollies and ballon are doing ok though
