San Jose Water Company Chloramine

For the folks lives in San Jose with water supplied by SJ Water Company, have you tested the chloramine level in the system. On the water report, it states only chlorine is added as disinfectant. But I want to make sure, otherwise I would have to get the required test strips and carbon block to treat it.

I live in San Jose as well. I have never tested the tap water, since I only use RO for my tank.

Normal carbon blocks do not work against Chloramines.

You gotta get the ones approved for chloramine filtration if you want to remove chloramines.

Chloramines were designed to be more stable than chlorine. I do not think chloramines evaporates.

I use the BRS Universal 1 Micron Carbon Block in my system. They have a video on their site which compares it to other carbon blocks and it's supposed to be better. You can also buy test strips to confirm.

I replace my carbon block when my DI Resin is depleted (replace resin, prefilter, carbon at the same time) and the carbon block is still pulling all the chloramine right up until replacement. Test strips come back negative.
