Sand bed question

I have 2 nano's that I'll be shutting down as I bring my new 120 online. Both nano's have great sandbeds with microstars, medusa worms ect. The only problem is I setup both nano's with black sand and want to use white sand in the 120.

Any advice on moving as much of the beneficial creatures without moving the black sand itself?

How much black sand do you have? Why couldn't you cut some egg crate, place it in the middle of the 120, then put some of the black sand in the spaces, then cover the area with white sand? Or, just leave out the egg crates and put the black sand in first then cover it with white sand. However, i think the egg crate will keep the black sand more contained, but allow the critters to be present.

You can make a sieve with fiberglass window screen and sieve as many worms and pods out of the old sand as possible ;)

Are you going to be running a refugium on the 120? You could always use the black sand from both nanos as a DSB in the fuge. That way your systems get the benefit of your nice live sand, but you don't have to look at it.
