Sand bed questions

I have changed out all my crushed coral for a 2" sand bed, and I need to know some things. First, how long until I can re-introduce my Live Rock. The majority of the sand storm is over, but the water is still cloudy. My problem is that I can not operate my sump until I raise the water level. I am currently running my canister to clear things up. Also, what is the best sand size to use?

Are there corals in there. If not, I would put the rock back in. The sand will take a while to settle. Once it does you might have to blow the rocks off. However, it shouldn't hurt anything.

did you leave any lin when you changed substrate, im considering the same thing and wondering how to go about it, with a fish only tank and a few featherdusters/shrimp, will the cloudiness hurt any of them?

I took everything out; Live Rock first and then hermits and shrimp. They are all alive in a Rubbermaid Tote, with a small heater.

I used a small paint bucket, which I drilled drain holes in, and a plastic putty knife. I got most out with the bucket alone, and then used the knife to pile up the rest (for bucket removal).

I hooked my canister filter back up, to get rid of the storm. I cleaned it up real good and added new carbon and a silicate removing media.
