sand, cloudy mess??

set up a 55g yesterday with tidal beach arag sand and its still very very cloudy. i can only see about 3" in the tank.
im running a penguin (no bio wheel) and i dont think its helping much.
i have to get the tank cleared fast because my fish are in it (emergency long story)
i cant feed my fish because they cant see through the cloudyness

how can i get the tank clear fast?

will those products designed to clear water help? its a fish only tank with 3 peppermint shrimp, NO live rock, no live sand or live corals

the only way to clear it up is water changes and time

the water is brand new

i just dont want my fish to starve to death waiting for it to clear. i have a foxface and bullet goby that have to graze all day.

would a diatom filter work?
