I like natural sand, something not too small so it doesn't blow around but I'm not a fan of crushed coral because it seems to get pockets of detritus pretty easily.

I used natural sand from a beach, but I think you mean aragonite from a store that is just natural colored? That's totally different.
Honestly, the way you've split sand up isn't accurate in a number of ways. It's not just broken down by color, and there is a lot of grades between oolite and crushed coral. It's like you've asked what kind of carpet people have in their houses and given them choices between white, black, and shag.

I use a medium grade aragonite I forget the exact particle size.

cstrickland thanks the shag gave me a bad flashback.

honestly i am asking what colour carpet they like , for me if decided to go with sand . I decided i want sand and was curious what colours people liked in there tank and was curious if anyone did no sand and if anyone did coral . I chose not to use oolite . So i appoligize if my poll isnt accurate but mainly i was looking for some answers to help me with my tank

Aragonite, medium grade, a natural calcium carbonate, helps with water balance, doesn't present any problems. I get medium grade, which is ok if you later decide to get a jawfish or other burrower.

Natural calcium carbonate ? i havent heard of doing this ! i will have to search that out ! Not questioning you as i am new to the trade and lots is new !

Does anyone use natures ocean? Is it good? I'm considering natures ocean #1 white live sand. If you use it, does it blow around easily with the power heads? I am hoping to get something white that will stay on the tank bottom even with two mp40's. That will work with snails, or starfish, or diggers or sand dwellers. I'm beginner also. thanks.
