Sand depth display tank

What's the going train of thought on how deep it should be. Put 80lbs in so far and am getting spots of 2" to 3". How much will this shrink down when the water goes in? I've got another 80lbs to add but don't want to over do it.

The sand will not shrink. I would do an inch or two tops, unless you want a DSB, then go with 4-6"

1lb per gallon usually gives you 1.5" in depth.
I usually go with 1 1/2 lbs per gallon or stop when it looks good.

I would not equate your thought process to a train, it is more like the short bus.

But I would get to wear a cool helmet.

yeah didn't think so but wasn't sure. Just read the bucket, I used 100lbs.
Looks like I might have some sand for sale:D
This was the stuff/place right Nook?

If that is the finest size they have, then yes that is it.

Guess I'll have to go with the "stop when it looks good" it's already starting to look deep enough to me.

That looks perfect to me.

When my 265 was set up, I added sand after 3 years, I don't know where it went but it went somewhere.
