Sand for new sps tank

How much sand would you guys recommend for a new setup. It's 75 gallon and gonna be sps and lps. I'm using reef flakes too because I heard everyone is happy with it. Should I go with less than 1 inch or around 1.5-2. Anyone with reef flakes if you can chime and and let me know how easy it is to clean that would be great thank you.

I have seen people and heard of many people who regularly clean their shallow sand beds with no problems at all.

I use a mix of tropic eden mini flakes and tropic eden aragasnow. I put the aragasnow down first then the mini flakes. You have about 4-6 inch sand bed and it stays put for the most part. I use two mp40qd running at 80%

I'm running a 4" deep sand bed on my 470 gallon SPS tank, never vacuum it.

I find no sand is best.

I like to run about 1/2 inch. It's shallow enough that nothing gets totally locked up inside, but it also provides tons of space for bacteria to live and help buffer the tank against rapid changes and keep NO3 low. I do run a P04 remover to keep that at 0.03 with the current setup. When I was BB I had higher nitrate and struggled to keep P04 as high as 0.03 resulting in corals bleaching and death. I know lots of people that run BB with great success but that was my experience.

I've been happy with a 1" sandbed. It looks natural and is easy to siphon and maintain. If you're torn, start with less and add more until you're happy. The deeper it gets, the more siphoning you'll have to do unfortunately.
