sand for refuge???

If I mix live sand and home depot sand for my fuge will it still serve the purpose? And what is a good depth for my sand? Thanks for any help you guys can offer!!

I wouldn't put sand into a refugium at all, most likely, but an inch or so of sand should be fine. Most live sand isn't worth the money, and good live sand is quite expensive, so I'd probably just use HD sand.
