Sand in Fuge??

Is it necessary, or more beneficial for growing pods?

My understanding is go deep (DSB) or not at all (BB). Any fuge will help with pods, but I bet those with sand help more because they have more surface area and hence food and habitat availability. Fuges are about more than just pods tho

I'd go DSB if you have a big enough sump, or just a bunch of live rock rubble otherwise. I always liked rubble in the sump, anyway. You could add a macro if you have something to screen it from getting in your main tank. When I had rubble and macro in my sump, I had a tank full of pods (until I added a mandarin, and then I had a fat and happy mandarin).
