sand is starting to clump

i noticed yesterday when doing my waterchange that in spots in my sandbed i am getting rock hard clumps. What is the cause for my sand clumping like that?

Cant think of why it is, maybe dead spots where the flow doesnt get to. You could try adding some sort of sand sifting goby to help out.

i do have a goby... and it is high flow and medium flow areas of the sand bed....

Do you have hermits? i remember mine used to make like little sand balls.

yes i do have scarlet hermits... but these clumps are not small... i do remember reading somewhere about sand clumping and your ca, mag, and alk levels.

so i am wondering if one of these readings is outta whack

Do you dose calcium/ph buffer? If so, you may want to dose a little less to see if that helps.

yes i dose 2 part solution from bulk reef supply.
