I am starting a new tank. I really like small particle sand. I was thinking of using Fiji pink but people have said the do not like how it get displaced.. So I was thinking about mixing Fiji pink and special grade reef sand both by Carib sea. I'm thinking that it will give the sand a more resistance to displacement and also keep the look of fine granulated sand..

Does anyone have any experience with bot these sands that would have some input..

I really don't like large particle sand looks but I don't want to deal with a proble of displacement.

I kept a DBS, so I had ~7" of sugar sized oolitic. But I was using PH's that I could direct more toward the top of the water column, and kept just enough flow along the bottom to keep any ditritus from building up.

I don't like the large particle either so did a bunch of reading and ended up going with Tropic Eden Tonga pink mixed with some of the sugar sized. It did move around a bit for the first month but now it stays in place very well. This is exactly what I had read from others. It stays in place better than the caribe sea product.

That's a good thought, I have the fiji pink in my reef with no issues, but I also need to increase my flow. I've used the special grade, it's really no that big. Definitely don't go any finer, I did and ended up sucking it all out.
