Sand question

I have a Sleeper goby and he makes piles of sand all over the place. I`ve had him for a month now and I just let him pile sand up for a while and then I go in the tank and smooth everything out and he starts over again. When I smooth out the sand, am I releasing anything from the sand that may be harmfull to my tank? I`ve read that guys don`t like transfering sand from one tank to another because of the stuff thats under the top layer of their sand.

No major issues Dave, best to just the Goby do his thing. He will eventualy stack it someplace else. Don't smooth it let your tank adapt. to where it goes.

The fish is moving small amounts of sand so its not an issue. I think my sons Yellow headed jawfish has moved every grain of sand in his tank over the last yr or so with no problems. He has pretty much tunneled out 2/3 of his tank with his caves.
