Dragon Goby or Bullet Goby I have a Dragon. He will tear up the sand bed. One week he moves it one way then moves it back. Your rock has to be firmly on the glass. He moves that much sand but yes sand will get all over lower corals.
I agree with the above posted. They are cool for awhile, but they constantly kick up sand and make your water look more cloudy. Plus they litter sand all over your corals, which is very irritating to them. I'd try something else.
How about nassarius snails? They spend most of their time fully submerged in the sand and then erupt when it's feeding time. They need to be fed meaty foods though. Cerith snails are good sand stirrers too.
i have a diamond goby and yes the first 5 days my water was filled with small particles but i run a filter sock and all the fine sand is gone and the little dude is the hardest working fish in my tank, very cool fish.
IMO if you dont have a sandsifting goby for your SB then you will never have a well sifted and crisp SB.They can cause rock slides and do cover coral but like my clam and plate they just remove.
This guys Sb cleaning performance outwieghs any faults
Though a 50 gallon is a little small but my daimond eats frozen , pellet and flake so he wont starve.
Im on the gold coast, so im not sure wether it would be practical or safe to transport the guys that far by road, but if you can get someone to drive you down here it will be well worth your while, there are two fully reef catering stores within 10 minutes of my house as well as Coral Plantations(about 30 mins drive from my house). They have the biggest selection of corals and inverts you will ever see in a LFS. Check out their website www.coralplantations.com and look for the cleanup crew section.
