Yay or nay?

I've heard that these really are not that good for tanks as they eat up all the copepods and other beneficial organisms in your sand bed and then just die.

I have had one now for close to a year and he seems fine in my 28 gal tank. I do notice less "critters" running around at night though since I've added him to my tank.

Any thoughts?

I would say Nay simply for the reasons you have already stated.
