Sand Storm Help!

I used the small grain live sand in my SPS tank and now i am getting a lot of sand storms due to small grain sands and high flows.

I am thinking of adding a few bags of larger grain sand to the tank. will the larger grains eventually sink to the bottom making adding more sand useless? Are larger grain sand heavier than smaller grain or it depends on the type of sand?

is it a good idea to add crushed corals?

Please suggest ways of stopping the sand storm.

I just went through this with my tank. What I ended up doing was getting some caribsea special grade reef sand. I removed about half of the sand from the front of the tank (this is where is was blowing around) and put the new sand on top. Its been a couple of months now and everything is still good.

doesn't the new sand sinks to the bottom since it's bigger and heavier? or maybe it stays on top because it's bigger but lighter?

The fine sand didn't come up at all. Even in a spot where my pistol shrimp dug up a bunch of sand, I just mixed it together and the larger grain sand tends to stay on top. However you may still have to change the angles on your powerheads a little. That sand won't blow around like the fine sand but over time they can blow a bald spot in the sand an expose the fine sand again. I was able to find a happy medium and only had to move one powerhead a little.
