sand transfer question

What's the easiest way to move some sand from an existing tank to a new one I'm starting? Thanks

I use a 3/4 in clear tube(line) and siphon large amounts of sand when I need..

How much sand?

If I were starting a new tank, I'd transfer a few cups and replace the rest with new sand.

I've heard transfering sand is not desirable because of the build up over time. If I'm off base, please correct me!
