I recently picked up a Yellow Fiji Toadstool for my tank. So far it seems to be doing quite nicely, but considering it is a softie tank and I have a sand-sifter, the Fiji picks up a small amount of detritus by the end of the light cycle. It hasn't been enough to hurt the other softies, but from what I've read on Fijis, they are notoriously more sensitive then their relatives. So my choices with this setup are to either hit it directly with a powerhead or let it collect the small amount of detritus and hope it doesn't cause a problem. From playing around with the powerheads the coral doesn't seem to mind getting blasted nearly directly (hitting the edge of the coral directly) with a Tunze 6025, so I guess that option is looking at least doable. I was thinking if I go that route then I'd move the modded Koralia Nano 425 to blow right over the top of it, since it is a more gentle flow. Or would I be better off just letting the small amount of detritus collect and let the coral clean up for itself?
Also, it has about half-a-dozen Zoas attached to the same rock right at the base. They don't seem to be bothering each other, so I doubt the Zoas will be a problem for the Fiji. Of course, if the Zoas want any light then the Fiji is a problem for them. They are too close to frag off so, any chance they'll survive or is it likely the Fiji will starve them out?
