Sargassum for 120G reef?

I'm putting together a 120G reef that will be SPS dominated but I do expect to have a few Zoa's and maybe a clam. I also want to keep shrimp and snails. I'm now working on a fish wish list. I love the swimming motions of the Trigger fish and thinking about adding a Sargassum as my center piece fish.

Other fish I currently have:
Clown Goby
Chromis
Bangai Cardinal
Lawn Mower Blenny

Fish I hope to add once the 120G is running:
Firefish
Wrasse's (some combination of Fairy, Flame, Velvet)
Tomini or Kole Tang
Pair of Clowns

So now to my questions.
1) Will the Sargasum likely be okay with the above tank mates?
2) How fast do they grow and do they really reach 10" in captivity?
3) Are they too large for a 120G display tank?
4) Should this fish be added last of would is it dosile enough to add at any time?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks.
:)

They are from the genus Xanthichthys, so they're planktivores (pods) by nature. They often adapt to eating mysis, etc., but I'd be worried about him competing with the wrasses and especially the lawnmower blenny for food. That said, he'd likely not bother anyone else, but I can't speak from experience.

I had one for two years in a 75 gallon reef and he was fine. Eventually gave the fish to a friend as I was changing over my tank.

Sargassum are very friendly, (like a dog) as most triggers are. He was also pretty nimble for a trigger never had problems with him moving or bumping things around, had no aggression with other fish either. I had many of the fish you have or

May be a little shy for the first day or so, but that will go away very fast.

Got mine at 2inches had him to about 5 or 6 inches. I would say he would be ok in 120gallon. I've never seen one bigger than about 6 or 7 inches myself.

i currently have one in my 120g and he is awsome. i got mine tiny, about 2" and now hes about 3". he's in there with a flame wrasse harem, chrevron tang, potters angel and blue spot jaw. Haven't had any problem with him.

Thanks for the replies guys. Do most of your eat mysis like Chibilis? Also, how often do they come available? The DiverDen of LiveAquaria had a couple but I decided I need to wait until the 120G is ready :(

Carb, you may also want to consider a Blue-Chin Trigger- same "reef-safe' Genus (Xanthichthys). Great fish, beautiful, a pleasure just to watch swim around. There have been a number of threads in the last 2-3 weeks about them including one started by me. Take a look at what people said- I think that they are more attractive than the Sargasum, but this is only an opinion.

Blue chin the same as the blue throat/blue jaw? If so, I have seen them, like them, but prefer the Sargassum based upon the photos I have seen online. I will search and see if I can find your thread, most likely read it already :)

mine eats anything i feed. mysis, plankton, blood worms, pellets anything you can think of. it will even eat nori that i put in for the tang and angel. blue chin, throat and jaw r all the same fish just different variants of the name. Them and the sargassum are very similar in behavior. i happen to like the sargassum more just because you don't see them as often. You could also get a Crosshatch if you want to spend a bit more money, but i have found them to be a little more aggressive than the sargassum or blue throat. Here's a pic of my little sargassum.
