Sargassum/Red tail trigger

After searching for almost a year for a sargassum trigger (previous one jumped), I found one in the Diver's Den and ordered it. Drip acclimated for an hour, put him in the tank with the lights off, and watched him swim behind the rocks. That was Tuesday afternoon and now it's Thursday and I haven't seen him. I don't remember my last trigger being so shy. There's nothing in the tank that could eat him and the tank is covered so I know it's still in the tank.

Any insight would be appreciated.

When I got my pair of blue throat triggers they were in the rocks for like 3 days but once they start to come out they will not hide anymore except when the lights are out. I wouldn't worry too much if your water parameters are fine.

Some triggers do this for one reason or another. I've heard lots of stories of Blue Jaws doing it, its an acclimation thing, i don't think you should worry yet. he's probably wedged in a rock somewhere

yes these kind of triggers do take awhile as mentioned. give him a few days and you should start to see him more. BTW I have a friend with one and they are an absolutely awesome fish!!!!!!

Yes triggers do this, my blue jaw was in the rocks for a week before i even saw him. Even now he comes out but only for a few minutes. It has been 2 weeks.

Thanks for the comforting words. I had one for over a year and it liked me to pet it. It had so much personality. I hope this one is as half as cool.

That has to be fun to be able to pet it.
