Saron shrimp, anyone have experience?

I have a 90 gal seagrass tank I am building with some rockwork in the corners. I was thinking camelback shrimp in addition to possibly a couple Saron shrimp. For fish I plan on pipefish and maybe Banghai cards in the future. Would the Saron play nice or are they aggressive shrimp of the Coral Banded Shrimp variety?(I had one fight an interested lion and win, so they are pretty aggressive to me anyway.)

They are quite large, and as you noted, a bit on the aggressive side. For me, the problem with them is that they can destroy a great deal of the sessile life that lives on the live rocks, greatly reducing the diversity of the tank. But that can be said for most, if not all of the free ranging shrimp species.

OK, sarons are out. Are Camelbacks bad or just to the occassional zoo? I kinda like the beady eyed little guys but pipes and pod life are my main objectives.

From my Shimek book, Rhynchocinetes spp. will feed on various small polyps, esp. zoanthids. They aren't considered "reef" safe.

In my experience camels would be ok with that setup unless you have zoas and you'd have to bury any feather dusters you might have. A while back I had 4 or 5 in a tank and every once in a while they would all stop what they were doing get in a single file line and cruise all over the tank.

Well mainly I am going to have invasive leathers from my other tank to add some variation and because they are in the video. If one of the shrimp get hungry and munch on them I guess they will help keep things in check. Think I will stick to camelbacks, blood red shrimp, and perhaps some sexy cleaner shrimp when I run into them(not going out of my way for them). One of my LFSs here does have a nano coral tank with a goby and a huge camel shrimp and she has had it set up for a year. There are zoos, mushrooms, small leathers, and some xenia in it so its not a sure thing the camels will munch down on it(not going to put prized zoos in mine and simply hope they wont eat it either though lol).

Lol yea it reminded me of lobsters migrating. Not sure where they thought they were going though.
