Saturday Zilla meeting updates!!

Just a quick reminder - our meeting this Saturday is a potluck so feel free to bring a covered dish, dessert, or other edible goodies.

We also wanted to post a note from our host, Kevin Carpenter:

Did a quick status check on the refugia and noticed a lot of growth over the last couple of weeks. I should be able to provide free macro-algae starters for anyone wanting some. I know I have at least 4-5 varieties in there, but folks will be on their own to find and pick reasonable starter quantities.

I also have a couple of buckets and a barrel of fine (mostly southdown) sand that I removed from the refugia and never reinstalled after the last rebuild. Folks are welcome to as much of that as they desire. Its not "brand new pretty white" anymore, but its in good shape.

For both, its "Bring your own container!" :)

What could be better than a potluck BBQ, a 5000 gallon reef tank, and a chance to hang with all your reefing pals? Can't wait to see you all on Saturday! :D

628 Knollshire Way, O' Fallon, MO 63366, starting at 10 am.

Yes, definitely!! This is an open an invitation to anyone who would like to check out SEASL and Zilla. :)

Ditto. :)

Same here. Interested in the elections and some chit chat. If you haven't seen zilla its pretty cool and a must see at least once. Don't forget to check out the back work area.

Added Brats to the normal hamburger and dogs menu. You have to love CostCo! <smile>

Although RSVPs were greatly appreciated, there will be plenty of food, so please feel free to come and eat even if RSVPing got overlooked.

Also, the sand mentioned below is bulk. I overdid it the first time in my refugia, so this is what was scooped out as extra a year or so ago. I would expect it is nicely dried by now.

Kevin

Thanks for the chance to see that amazing tank, Kevin! So when are you adding the dolphin? ;-)

It was also great to finally meet a bunch of RCers in person!

Kevin, your tank gets better looking every year! Congratulations on your recent marriage. Best wishes all around.
Kathy

Congratulations on getting married! I missed that tidbit. Thanks for having everyone out to your house I know it takes a lot of prep work to bring large numbers of people into your home.

A stingray would look pretty cool in there!

I joined and now I can put faces with names.

Don't count on it. I've been trying for 2 years and I've only got a dozen or so committed to memory. I recognize the faces at the meetings, the names on RC, and maybe the real names but putting it all together is another story. Maybe going out on Friday nights has something to do with my mental sharpness come Sat. morning though. :D

Apparently, this has caught up to me at the ripe age of 20. I went out (like an idiot) on Friday night and woke up bright and early Saturday at 1pm. Oh well, you full-timers know how it is to want to sleep in...Now I just kind of wish I didn't.

Oh, please bring on the pics.
