Save your fish!

Quaranteen everything wet: snails, corals, and especially fish.

Seems to be Brooklynella season, and although all my captive bred clownfish are parasite-free, Brook is out there, and it will kill clownfish very quickly once they are exposed to the parasite from wild caught fish or fish exposed to wild caught fish.

It will take 6 weeks of fish free time to clear your display tank of the parasite, so

Quaranteen for 4-6 weeks, anything you buy.

FYI

Good luck,
Kathy

Thank you Kathy!

What plan of action would you suggest I take for stocking my 40 gallon breeder? Do I need to QT things before I put them in the tank even though it's empty (after there is anything in it I will be QTing, but at first?)?

I would. In case you have to medicate, you don't want to medicate with live rock or your biofilter will likely die.

yes its out there i have it and ive lost all fish accept 2 my yellow tang and my korean angel but i think they are gonna pull through hopefully sooo.... BEWARE

im not using it i just heavily dosed my tank with metro and it is taking care of it natually fish are doing better it just takes alot of patience and several weeks im at week 4 and it seems to be going away and my fish are doing better along with feeding them the metro as well the only reason i lost all my other fish is i waited to long to medicate them cause everyong waas out of it

Chelsey, I'm really not an expert, but if it were my tank, I would put the live rock and substrate if you want that, saltwater and nothing else for a good 6 weeks, feeding a pinch of flake food and the lights on schedule daily. At the same time you can put some fish or snails or even both( if you are willing to remove the snails if you need to medicate) in a quaranteen tank for the same six weeks. After that, if all is well, you can put the animals in the display and go out and buy some more to QT for the next 6 weeks.

That is what I would do. For what it is worth....

Kathy
