SC Aquariums 180 Gallon

After 2.5 years in a 50 gallon, I've been given the opportunity (thanks to my families move back to the U.S. from Japan) to upgrade to a SC Aquariums custom 180 gallon.

I've decided to go through SCA for pretty much the entire setup, minus the equipment. They are making the 180 gallon with low iron glass on the front and sides and custom drilled holes for a MM 36" overflow. The sump is also custom to fit my needs and space requirements for other items I would like to fit inside the stand. The stand and canopy will be designed similar to how the BRS 52 weeks 160 gallon looks. I will of coarse have everything under the tank instead.

I'm still 1.5 months away from moving to Florida and 2 months from closing on our house so the only progress the setup has are the drawings of the tank and sump provided by Steve at SCA. More to come as he gives me updates to my build.

Damn that gonna be so sweet. I see a lot of ppl doing there customs. i think they should just do it that way or make a smaller over flow like a C2C or something.

dont get me wrong I love my SC 90 but I DO wish the internal over flow was not there. would be perfect.
your doing it the wright way. can wait to see this beauty.

The external/internal overflows do seem to be very popular because how much the beananimal setup has caught on. I might give Steve that feedback once my tank is completed. I also had him change how the eurobracing was so my internal box could sit higher in the aquarium. I'd like to keep the water level as high as posible inside but that might be difficult with a 36" box.

Ended up raising the return holes .5 inches to reduce a amount of water that drains into the sump and the overflow holes .25 inches to raise the water line inside the tank a little.

The tank is on its way to states so not too update on so I guess I'll break down my equipment list.

Lighting: 4 Kessil A360WE centered in the middle of the canopy with a Giesemann 80W Razor T5 Retro Kit on each side (blue plus, purple plus, kessils, coral plus, blue plus).

Inside the aquarium: 3 MP40WQD, 130lbs BRS reefsaver Rock, and 50 lbs BRS Fiji dry rock.

Sump: Skimz Monzter SM202, Turbo's Aquatics L2, Osmolator Universal 3155 Auto Top Of, and a Vectra L1.

I'm trying to figure out the stocking list now. I can't decide if I want to start off with a pair of snowflake clowns or something that doesn't cost as much.

glad to hear the tank is on its way!

nice equipment list sir. I wanat up date of how bad a$$ the L2 scrubber is!

I would maybe start off with a less spendy fish. but that just me..
keep us posted bud.
your gonna love the tank!
