I've got an XM 10K DE250 bulb that wont light on either my Icecap electronic, or my ARO electronic.

Anyone know who I can contact?

I am having the same problem i contacted icecap and XM, its the XM's, they wont fire with Icecaps. I am sending my bulbs back to XM and they are sending me new replacements. I am stuck though because i got them throught a friend who bought them through a wholesale company and neither will take them back. If anyone wants BRAND NEW XM FACTORY DIRECT 250 DE 10K bulbs let me know. Selling 4 of them for $75 each i will pay for next day shipping to you.

Ill have the new bulbs next week.

I just got my XM replacement SE 250watt 10k's in today, and they're totally white! Of course I'm running them on a PFO dual HQI ballast now, but they look great! The Iwasakis are still brighter, but the XMs do look awesome. I really can't choose which bulbs I want to use first.

Shawnts106,
I contacted XM and this is what they said.

John,
We use 100 hours before making tests.
This is about the time when the lamp stabilize.
All metal halide lamp is continually change in lamp lumen and color as they age.
This number is a standard adopted from IESNA testing standards.

Thank you.
Stella.

John, that is very strange that they say that...
when XM said on another thread there is no burn in time... hum... ??? makes me wonder!

Bumping... and someone somewhere else said that Sometimes if you receive XM's and they are white, then a few months down the road they turn yellow...

another bad hit for XM!

anyone had this problem????

Glad to see your bulbs are now white; after having seen your previous putrid pictures....

Ok, now why isn't that a TOTM? I have to admit that I'm moving away from the XM 10Ks and I'm going to try the Reeflux 10K bulbs. I'm just not very happy with how everything looks. Still looks too white with actinics. Figure I'll try something differnt out this time around.

too white I guess, the only mishap I had was the fact that the 15Ks sucked and had to replace them too quickly. I had 20Ks but nothing grew very well, but looked awsome.

Did you use a credit card or paypal? Might have a record of the transaction there. Also, the vendor you bought them from may have a record.

This is why I hope that new Iwasaki comes in 250 400w versions soon. If it does, you want to bet what will happen to xm10 sales?

If Iwasaki come out with a 250w SE 10K bulb and has great PAR you betch Ill be getting those!

XM 10K's look good and do good if you get a good bulb...

Im really just scared to see what happens past that! ERRRR

Have you made a decision on what bulb you are getting yet? What ballasts are you using?

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to clear up the burn-in issue on this thread. Some people were thinking XM was pre-burning there lamps before shipping. This is a direct quote I got from XM this weekend.

"You are correct this is mis-information.
XM are not running100 hours before shipping. Actually, I don't belive
any metal halide is manufacutured this way.

100 hours of operation is a good reference point to measure lamp
electrical and photometric characterics."

Basically it would be almost impossible for a company to burn a halide bulb 100 hours and then ship out, would be too much resource and it could effect the bulbs performance depending on what type of ballast they use to burn in.

The 100 hour rule is industry standard though, this is not a slam against XM. Any halide lamp you buy will not give you accurate color until around 100 hours. That doesn't mean it will be a drastic change, but you normally can't depend on the results of that lamp until after 100 hours.

Hope this helps clear the burn-in issue up.
