Scarlet Cleaner Shrimp Eggs

I just noticed today that my scarlet cleaner shrimp has a bunch of eggs tucked up underneath her abdomen. I have two cleaner shrimp and I was wondering if they produce eggs even without a male and also if the eggs are fertile is there any chance that some of the spawn will survive? Thank you.

Your shrimp are Simultaneous hermaphrodites...the shrimp gets fertilized hours after each molt by the other shrimp. There some good threads of info in here...search for Lystmata amboinensis and some other variations. Not too many folks have been able to rear them; tough shrimp!

They will come out live and swim around a while until something eats them. There are threads here that talk about them it seems they are very hard and takes allot of time to raise. It would be fun to try I guess if you had the extra time and patience. My skunk shrimp are always full of eggs. Good luck if you try.

So then the eggs are fertilized? Should I transfer her into my refugium to give the little guys a fighting chance?
