scarlet skunk cleaner shrimp

here's the story I just recently got a cleaner shrimp as a gift from a lfs. We went home and I was about to begin drip acclimating him and he was just frozen. So I called the guy at my lfs and went in to talk to him. He told me you weren't suppposed to drip acclimate them and continued to talk to me and my gf as if were stupid. I have been trying to read about them and all I want to know what would cause the shrimp to just freeze up. I never even began the acclimation progress and he continued to tell me it was my tank that killed it. Any advice would be appreciated.

If your not supposed to drip them, how did he suggest you acclimate? They are very sensitive and using the drip method is the best way to slowly adjust the water. He was squirming out of a replacement.
I had one do the same on me whilst i was moving it from tank to tank and i think its a combination of them being fragile and stress.

Its weird that the same LFS that gave you a "gift" also gave you **** for acclimated it.

Invert's are very sensitive to changes, and they require the longest drip out of most other livestock....

So i dont know what that guy is smoking.. maybe hes just upset that the "sick" shrimp died before it made it into your tank
