schooling fish for 75g reef

malnurs

New member
I am setting up a 75g Reef set-up with 20g refuge. I will only have softies. I currently only have a false perc, and 2 green chromis in my 20g with my softies. I really only want smaller fish so I can have more variety. any suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks,
Chris

Well ignoring the fact that fish will not "school" in reasonably sized aquaria, you probably want shoaling fish which will group together and sort of "aggregate". Many cardinal fish will do that but not Bangai cardinals.

x2

get some more chromis they stick in a pack in my 75...i heard antharis's will pack up as well....

Well Chromis will decide how many are desirable and then eventually kill the rest/weakest. Anthias are nice if you get some that are able to be fed the requisite three to four times per day.

Ive got chromis, had 6 for about a year. I think if you have good flow it keeps them picking each other off. Didnt think I would like them but got them to bring out my other fish and I am happy to have them.

Thanks, are there any other fish besides the chromis that might do well. I am gonna get me a couple more clowns, not sure what kind yet though. keep the ideas coming. and thank yall very much

yeha that's what i meant i just didn't know the word. i just dont want a few big fish and then nothing else.
Besides Bangai the other cardinals will kinda stick together as well?

Well shoals are kinda boring but that is what the original poster was looking for. Cardinals do it, I have two groups of them. In one group, there seems to have been a pairing off of two, however.
