Recently a SCMAS member's (Duece67) wife was rushed to the hospital for a life threatening emergency. Since he and his wife work for small businesses they did not have health insurance. As a result they were left with large hospital bills. Russ is a wonderful person and has done much to advance the hobby in Colorado. SCMAS is holding a fundraising event to help pay for the bills and I ask you to please help these people. You could either do so by attending the event or by going to the SCMAS site and clicking on the link to donate to the family. Below is their description about the happenings and the event:
As everyone knows already, Nancy (Russ's wife), had a life threatening emergency that caused her to be hospitalized. Both Russ and Nancy work for small businesses and don't have medical insurance, so as we all know the hospital bills are huge. Russ is selling his beautiful reef system, which is something I think we all would do given the circumstances.
I have talked with the Board Members, and we all agree that we would like to try and help them out with a dinner and auction. The day will be Saturday, August 29th. The club will have the food catered and have the members pay around $15 per person to eat dinner. After dinner, we will have a frag auction. The auction will be for frags that will be donated by members and the total proceeds will go to the Toledo's. I think this will finally be a way to pay Russ back for all the free frags he has given me and many members of this club. Russ has been the most generous person I can think of when if comes to sharing his corals and he deserves a little return of the kindness.
The place and food will be announced shortly as we need to find both, but the dinner is going to happen. It would be great to see as many members as possible to help out a fellow reefer. I will be asking for a head count so we can try and keep the food close to the numbers.
We now have a location...Joe Drews garage (where we had the first frag swap) I will be posting the address when Eric sends it to me. Lets say 4:00 pm.
