scolymia moving

Agreed, Scoly's don't have the ability to move themselves. Maybe you have a large snail pushing a very small scoly around a little at night time or something?

Plate corals are NOT the only corals that can move on their own. Slipper, tongue, mushrooms, zoanthids, leathers...all of these also have the ability to move on their own.

I do agree that your scoly is not moving on it's own, though...must be something in the tank doing it.

Scolymias move... I've had 5 and they all moved in an effort to get more light or stop shading each other. They just inflate and "lift" themselves up and over until they get to a spot they like. Often times the current helps - but it's not necessary as I've seen them move against and with the current.

Thanks for your responses. My scoly inflates itself to at least 8 inches in diameter. I don't think this is a small size. It always moves back to the exact same spot and squashes out the rose brain.
