Scooter blenny mating dance?

So I was walking by my tank this evening with the night leds on and I saw a somewhat big blob floating through my tank. Upon closer inspection my scooter blennys were swimming around attached to each other side by side. They would do this for about 20-30 seconds, then drop and start again. Is this their mating dance? They are both still fairly small (about 3 inches each), so I wasn't sure if they were mature enough to start this. I tried to get a video, but I wasn't able to put any lights on without them scattering.

That does sound like a spawning attempt, they are the right size look for your female to have a swollen belly. I would recommend turning off all the pumps if you plan to collect the eggs. The are usually between 1-2mm and very fragile, it took my synchiropus splendidus about 3 months of dancing to finally get the hang of it and produce eggs.

I am not sure I would try to raise them, I don't have a great place for a breeder tank right now. The female is bigger and fatter but doesn't appear to have a swollen belly. Seems like they are doing the mating dance a few times a night, although during the day they could seem to care less about each other.
