What supplimental foods can be fed to a scooter blenny
I fear he may be starving
My 30 gal tank has 50 + lbs of rock
i thought that would be enuf
but he is getting thin
thx

are you feeding anything? Mine takes frozen mysis shrimp and plankton, but i also get live pods from my LFS on occasion to make sure he's getting food even tho i know that he's eating the mysis.

just brine shrimp (washed) and seaweed (dried) for the veg eaters
i will get some mysis
i have a 2 inch DSB and the live rock
I had a green hair algae prob a while back but my
turbos have eradicated that completely
along with my phosphate war

i don't mean to rob the post but i think i might be having the same problem with my lawnmower. any suggestions?

i had one too but i think he met up with my BTA
there was lots of algae at that time
so i dont think he starved
feed him dried algae or veg pellets
scooters eat pods that liv in the rock and algae

And as a side note the last time I used plankton
( Kent Marine Zooplex )
my tank turned red

lol the tank turned red??? As in the water itself turned red or you had like a really bad outbreak of cyano (red slime algae)? Either way, weird stuff...

I just use the Hikari products or however they spell it. As for feeding it...i dont really spot feed it. I feed one cube per day (seems like a lot for a 40, but everything in there besides most of the corals eats the stuff w/in minutes). And just with the current in my tank about half of it floats around the bottom for a while. The scooter wont go up in the water column to get the stuff, but it chases everything that is down on the sand area. A few pieces will land here and there and i've seen him eat those later in the day (like after they've settled if they do) so i dont really worry about overfeeding and having lots of loose food on the ground. Like i said...everything that moves in my tank eats mysis :)

I caught my scooter blenny eatting flake food last night for the first time. He's been in my tank for about 6 monthes.
First time I've seen him eat it and was very happy.

I put a seaweed clip with dried seaweed in there ever few days and push it down to the bottom so its right on top of the substrate my blenny knows when I instantly put it in and comes to attack it with a quickness along with my hermits

Well I havent seen him for 2 days, I think he expired. My cleanup crew did the rest.
The first one committed suicide by jumping, now this.
I beat my algae prob so well he had no pods to eat.
Might try again, I dont know yet.

I have a orange spotted gobie that sits on the bottom 99% of the time sifting sand...that is until I feed mysis and bryn. He'll swim in the water column to eat just like the rest of the community. Go figure...
