I stopped by last week. The cloudy tank was from a film on the outside of the tank, not from the water. They were also working on cleaning up the algae while I was there.
I think Mitch is a great guy who worked hard getting the store going and I feel bad that he left. On the other hand, I have had nothing but good encounters when I've been at Scott's (the original) and all fish I purchased from there were healthy and well priced, though there stock was the lowest I had ever seen it when I stopped in the original last week.
I do think that Mitch would do well opening up a shop in the Naperville area, though. The only decent place is in North Aurora (Reef Plus). Petland and Petco are the competition, so there really isn't much. Besides, Petland's prices are much higher than other stores, so there the market is there for a good place with good prices.

Please do not attempt to tell me what I saw, when you where not there with me. The tanks were cloudy and there was junk blowing around in the tanks.

The last time I was in the sand beds of the tanks looked like shag carpet. The blanket of cyano was covering them. I watched as the help there stirred it all p and walked away.
Lets just spread it around more.

It looked like some type of precipitate or something. It was not micro bubbles as there were particles over 1 CM. It could have been something left in the tank to rot.

last time i was there mostly all the tanks were cloudy and i got to say a never seen fishes twitch berfore or chase there own tail.L.O.L. but on a serious note the super over crowded yellow tang tank was horriable all the fins on these fish were torn to shreads because they were fighting for territory not only are they trying to open all these stores theyre acting like the big chain stores by not caring about the little fishy's or the customers. when you walk in there all the employees will keep walking by you ignoring you kind of hoping that you dissapear. In order to get someones attention you nearly have to tackel someone to attend you. I will never shop at scotts again. Especially after the stunt that they tried to pull on mitch.(He wasn't the first guy they tried to do that to) thats uncalled for. Great thing about here is we all stick together big o happy reef family and support one another.

I was told I needed to come in on a Sunday{my day off} to stir the sand{with no pay}.I told the doc that all that crap floating around would not be good for business on a Sunday,and I needed to be payed for the overtime.He said I was no longer needed........ No that was "not" a film on the glass!!!!!!!!

I am not being rude.... I just can't say here. See...... one day,a very long time ago,beerguy went high on a moutian. There he spoke with the god of RC. Together they set forth a long list of rules. This was to become the RC User Agreement.I don't want to violate it's presepts. Telling you which presept, I would be violating,would in and of it's self be, violating the presept. This is why I can't say.
