Scratch in my new 72x32 starfire glass. Builder wants to buff it out, not replace it?

It's always something isn't it? Well, hopefully you can get what you paid for, a tank without a major scratch, soon. Once you do, you'll be glad you held out.

Though this wouldnt help you...I would have him try to buff it out (I dont think he can) just because I would love to see someone try to buff out glass.

Now if it were my tank I would have him replace it.

Very unfortunate. Sloppy work and a bad businessman as well. NEVER complain to a client about your inability to price you own work properly and as a result lost money on those jobs. Personally, based on the red flags, I'd push this to resolution quickly. Sounds like a future bankruptcy candidate to me. Depending on the circumstances, I don't know if this is the guy you want standing behind your tank. Hope it is resolved to your satisfaction.

I tried buffing glass...and it is a real pain in the.....

I can file my nail with it, it's more than a feel with my nail.
There are a couple tiny hair line scratches that I am sure could buff out. But even if he did buff it out, it'll create a lens effect and have distortion.

I was thinking about scratches since so many people talk about it. I've never seen this offered as a solution and maybe there's a reason for that but what about a windshield repair service? They claim to be able to repair chips and small cracks.
Has anybody tried that?

They only prevent the damage from getting worse and bond the glass kind of to make it structural again, not make the damage disappear.
