Do any of you know of a product that buffs out a scratch or fills one in well enough that you cannot see it? my wife used the magnant glass cleaner and put a scratch on the tank...Rrrrr I am sick over it

Unfortunately, if the tank is glass and the scratch is deep enough to catch a fingernail, there is little that can be done to buff it out. I've heard of some folks using a glass company that does windshields to fill the scratches with a clear resin to make them less noticeable. However, I think the tank has to be completely empty and clean.

If your tank is acrylic, buffing scratches is fairly easy.

I can help! I work for a Nano Abrasives company and our products are used to remove scratches from glass and plastics. Plus they are chemical free. All you need is a house hold drill. I can supply the polishing pads and polishing gel.

I have people call me all the time about fish tank scratches.

I have personally taken off scratches from bullet proof glass on train windshields. Send me a PM.

The real question is, is the scratch on the inside or outside. Most likely it's on the inside glass where it won't be able to get to unless you drain the tank which is not worth it..

I have the same problem and it was from using the mag float cleaner as well. I don't know why I didn't notice it but it was too late. Are those things NOT supposed to be used? I can't look at my tank without seeing the scratches. It's depressing.

This will help solve all your problems in the future.

I can't tell you how much I love this thing!!!!!

Just keep a good eye when using your magnet and you should be alright.

No fish eye effect. The mineral used is the same that they use in Mfg of eye glasses.

Wow, that's good to know. Is it available to the public like novus?

As far as the mag float, I always pull the dry side away from the glass periodically to allow the wet side to float away a bit then reapply the dry side. This allows any debris caught between the wet side and the glass to be released. If I think there is something there, such as when I am cleaning down by the sand, I will do it several times and in such a way that causes the wet side to snap back quickly causing a more jarring effect (to knock more loose).

I did the finger nail test and it is on the outside thankfully. I hope I can get it taken care of.

How can you get scratches on the outside using a mag float? I don't understand there's nowhere for anything to get caught on the outside of the magnet. Was your wife using it backwards?

lol no she wasn't using it backwards. the pad was a lil thin so the plastic edge around the pad rubbed against the glass, I have done it too but it was minor and could be rubbed out. but SHE didnt know i needed to replace the pad and she just went over there and started wiping away while I was at work..

Im going to post a video on youtube, showing how it works on fish tanks today. I will let post the link when I am done.
