Screws for a steel stand

Hello I have an aquarium steel stand i bought used the screws were rusted as well as the bolts. I decided to try n replace them. I tried out the stainless steel ones from menards lead to too many issues with the nuts getting stuck once i placed the screws through. I need to find an alternative to the prior screws. Anyone know where I can find these?

That's just a plain old partial thread flange bolt. Any well stocked hardware store or big box store should have them.

What problems exactly did you have using stainless hardware? What does the bolt need to thread in to?

Can you shoot some photos of the stand? Integrity of a steel stand that is held together with screws bolts makes me curious, especially if the bolts are rusted.

Well the stainless steel ones i had bought were threaded all the way up and down my mistake. Once i put them in the bolts would get stuck on it. I did have to force some of the screws in.

It looks like the bolts go through the steel tube. That means that essentially the inside of the tube is exposed. If the bolts are rusty enough to worry, what does the inside of the tubing look like?

Full thread might be a pain and isn't technically a good design choice, but it shouldn't prevent it from working unless you get the size totally wrong.

If you're replacing them because you feel they're too rusty to use, I feel that they're structurally sound. If your replacing them for cosmetically reasons. Simply wire wheel them and paint. Or reinstall and paint the whole stand. Once again, stucturally they're sound.

Well.. Thats part of your problem..
You don't know the difference between a screw, a bolt, and a nut.. :p

But yes if you try to jam a bolt into a hole and bugger up the threads you can/will have problems getting the nuts on them..

You just need to be careful and that may mean loosening up other bolts or applying force to the bars to remove the binding,etc... to make sure that the bolt can slip through the hole without getting all buggered up..

Really no reason a fully threaded bolt cannot be used where a partially threaded one was..

For "rust prevention"... Stainless is better than galvanized steel is better than zinc plated steel..

Thanks for the expertise I was not thinking at the time lol but i do know what the difference between a screw and a bolt. The bolts are not easy to get in inless you tap them into the holes in the beams.

Clean up the holes so the stuff actually fits? Run a tap through whatever nut might be in the hole?

Or just grind the paint off and weld it together, never deal with bolts again. It doesn't look big enough to matter if its assembled or not, that should fit through just about any doorway/hall.
