Purchased scribble angel last Monday placed him in 300gallon swim tank with lion, tang, snowflake eel, zebra eel and pink tail trigger. Wednesday added Queen Angel. Thursday added Blueface Angel. Friday removed scribble and decided to put him in 125 gallon reef where he had no competition. All angels are juveniles. 125 has 8 - anthias, 2 - gobies, 4 - shrimp and 2 - firefish. Saturday noticed scribble looked like he had ich and was comatose at the front of the tank. Placed fish in 29 gallon quarantine tank with 50% of recommended dose of coppper 1.017 salinity level. Reef tank was at 1.023 salinity and all other levels were good. Scribble put up no fight to be caught. I acclimated the scribble for approximately 1 hour to place into each tank. Scribble died on Sunday night. I have no idea what happend or what I may have done wrong. Whatever happended happended after taking him out of the 300 he was fine until I put him into the 125. Maybe accimation process was too short., not sure. Anyone have any ideas?

Hello,

Welcome to RC.

It could very well have been stress. IF he had ich and was not healthy then the transfer from one tank to another can be very stressful to a fish.

The differenecs between the fish store, your 300 and then the 125, which probably all have different parameters of some sort was probably to much.

How did you acclimate him? from the 300 to the 125?

I caught him in a net and then placed him in a bucket with water from the sump of the same tank and continuously added water from the 125 tank over the course of about an hour.

Well in my opinion, I do not think you did anything wrong acclimating him and its not that short of a time.

I tend to believe that stress from shipping to the store then to you to one tank to another probably was to much.

Then the addition of 2 new fish when he was new added more stress.

And then if he was had ich he was stressed (to much stress kills fish).

He might not have been the super healthy to begin with either.

I would wait and watch your other fish before getting any new ones just to be one the safe side hoping that the scribble did not introduce any unwated pathogen.
