What are reef experiences with this fish especially with clams. Are they comparable to Majestic, Emps or at the other end of the spectrum?

No idea on the upkeep.

But we can catch them on a rod and reel with a small hook and prawn as bait.

I had one in my reef, and he was great for a few months, and then went nuts, eating everything.

I have one in my 220 reef, 100% SPS corals - no clams, LPS or Zoos. He does perfect and never nips at all. Have had him over a year now about 5" in length.

Ive had them with soft corals, and they behave pretty well. They do like to munch on fleshy stony corals, sometimes just picking, other times you get an individual that just goes nuts and strips them all down. Never tried with clams- I just assumed they would be destroyed.

I dont know what happened with mine. After several months, it was like poof- he started eating clams, lps, sps, zoas. He was a murderer I tell ya! He went to 450 fish only, we he stil resides today.

I have one 5" in my tank with sps, elegance, acans, zoas, and a crocea clam. It doesn't bother any of those things. It loves nori and just about any food I throw in. I believe the trick is to get them very small. I bought mine about 2" from Diver's Den and she started eating flakes on the first day. Have added new corals and she doesn't even touch them, really recommend if you're not too risk averse.
