scrolling turbinaria help?

I just got a scrolling turbinaria in the mail and a couple of smaller pieces were broken off, nothing to major. Will this have an affect on the performance of this coral from the beginning. It is pretty big; at least for my aquarium. I acclimated it yesterday and it's polyps haven't seemed to come out yet. Will post pictures later after my initial post. Thanks - Dave

I believe these are SPS corals which means strong light and strong flow!
Good Luck!

I have found the scrolling turbinaria to be quite difficult to keep. in years past I have tried to keep them ,but to no avail. This piece shown below has been in my tank now for about a year and has shown some growth, but it is extremely slow. It is apx. 14inchs under 400 watt MHs and 110 watt actinic VHOs. I positioned it in the direct path of a 1.5 inch seaswerl return. The area in which it sits is a very high indirect flow spot to begin with, but 4 times a minute it gets hit directly. I also feed the tank cyclopeze, reef bugs, and marinesnow every other day. Calcium remains at 420 ppm, DKH 10-12, and PH 8.2-8.3. This has been a winning combonation for me. In my experiance damaged areas don't ever seem to rebound very well, but instead grow in a different and healthier location on the coral. THIS CORAL GROWS SLOW FOR ME!

this particular piece is about 6 inchs across and 5 inchs tall. It has maybe put out about a 1/4 inch of noticable growth this year.
