Scuba Poll

As most club members know, I am a diver and know there are several other divers in the club. Several have mentioned a group diving trip to me. I have 2 questions
1. Are you a certified diver
2. Would you be interested in a long weekend scuba trip to somewhere warm this winter/spring?

I would be glad to organize this is enough folks are interested.
I would probably go through the Dive Shop travel agency in an attempt to get the best prices for a group. Just let me know.

I have always wanted to learn, and have tried to set up and take classes several times but "life" has always gotten in the way.

Hopefully I can fit it in this winter!

I am PADI Advanced Open Water and NITROX Certified. I also have my own gear. And I would give anything to make a trip like that but I have 2 problems:

1. My wife doesn't dive although she prob. would still love to go somewhere warm.
2. I am recently unemployed and on the verge of Bankruptcy so the monetary requirements of a trip are WAY WAY out of my means.

I do hope you can get a trip going though and please post lots and lots of pics so I can dream would ya?

Very sorry to hear about that. Happened to me about a year and half ago. I was in the new home construction business which is all but gone now. I started doing DirecTV installations about a year ago now. Very tough times trying to find a halfway decent job out there right now. Good luck, and if you're interested the company that I work for(Directech) is hiring.

Just get out there and keep trying, cause things are tough! At least as far as jobs go. I have registered with every temp agency in Jackson and so far have had nothing come up. I had some temporary work, but that just ran out. I do however have an interiew with a company in Jackson this week. And I am very excited about it. Watch out if you go to any retail right now. I tryed to work for target and they were only going to work me 16 hrs. a week. What happend to people working at least 32?

Benefits happened to people working 32 hours, cheaper to work folks part time and not be on the hook for dental, health, retirement, etc .Don't sweat it though, the next prez of US has promised to spread the wealth around, so just hang in there, we will all get our well earned piece of the pie starting in January. *cough*

I like to dive, am not certified, but I do the Hotel dives (up to ~ 20 - 25 ft). I am interested in anything that would be similar. I just can't put the money into something I use once evey 3 - 5 years, so if certification is a req, I am out.

I have done some checking with the Dive Shop and a trip with 4 nights, including 3 days of diving, including flight and housing will be around $1600. He checked into Cozumel, Nassau and the Keys. This will not include meals, transportation from airport, transportation while there, tips on boat dives, etc. This is a little too steep for me. If anyone else would like to search for something more economical, just let me know. Also, passports would be required for Bahamas and Mexico.
