SCWD Closed loop

Hello,

I am thinking about doing a SCWD on a closed loop for flow in my 20 Long SPS system. Right now I have two modded maxi-jets that are really cranking the flow, but really, really loud. Now I dont want to go back to a large return and SCWD because the size of the tank, it can get hot fast. Also I know its not good to have too much water rushing through your sump, because your skimmer then cannot do its job effectively. So what I was wondering is what size pump will I need? Also which brand? Does anyone have a link to the how to for the closed loop.

TIA.

Now I dont have a table style stand so this will have to hang from the back do you think the pump will be okay? What size pump should I go with? Not sure how many gph or which model I would go with. Open to suggestion.

TIA

I have great flow in my 29 gallon tank with my Closed Loop, I used a quite one 4000, and for the in tank is the in tank from an AC 100 (AC 500) in is almost to much flow for my Hammer Corals.

no, the thing ways too much to hang on the back. I made a board that it sits on, the board is in between the tank and the stand not sure if i have a pic of the board, but i do have a pic of the CL

you can see the borad a little in this pic

So since the pump is not havng to pump 3 feet from the bottom of your sump up to your tank. Do I need less of a pump? Or would I still need the mag9.5 I was using? Also what if I dont have anything to set the pump on what would one do?

Thanks.

Do you all ready have the mag 9.5 (950 GPH), if so go with that. But if you dont I would go with the Quite One 4000 (1017 GPH)

The Quite One is cheaper, in price, but it stills delivers. The Mag 9.5 has more PSI than the Quite One.

I would get the pump closes to the tank as i could to increse the maximum head as much as you can. The SCWD is going to reduce it a little so the closer the pump to the tank the better.

Also the Quite One has less watts, 50 watts to the mag 9.5, 93 watts.

No pump yet. Not sure what size to get.

Well how can I do this without the need to have the pump sitting on something other then doing 3 feet of pvc from the floor to the tank aye yi yi would that be lame. What are others doing if they have normal stands?

Thanks.

By normal stands, you mean wood.

If you have pics that would be great.

Maybe build a little table behind the tank, to hold the pump

Hmm I live in an apartment and have no power tools dont think im going to be able to build a little table. When I say normal stand, i mean wood, the kind you buy from your lfs.
