SDguy - do any of your anthias eat NLS pellets?

Yes, my issue is actually maintaining coloration. I have an arsenal of foods that I can get my anthias (and other fish) to eat. I am focused on coloration and overall health, hence the desire to provide variety of foods including NLS pellets which I know are nutritionally good. My objective is to add an autofeeder for 2 feedings per day (out of four/five).

Sounds like a great idea. I consistently have great coloration in all my fish, through three different tanks and a bunch of different conditions, from full blown reef to fowlr and my only real thing that never changes between them is for the last 2 years or so I've been feeding NLS as the main food source with other things like nori/mysis/shrimp/meat from the sea included from time to time.

NLS pellets really seem to be one of those "miracle" foods that almost all fish will eat, even strict carnivores. And it isnt that they just eat them, but they actually benefit from them.

Anthias on NLS = fat happy fish. I mix in nls in with frozen food feedings. Like everyone else I use the 1mm pellet. It's nice once you get them on it to use an autofeeder.

This thread is lacking photos of FAT fish....

Actually my emphasis is on coloration maintenance rather than body weight. All my fish get fed multiple times per day so their "fatness" is not an issue. The soaking with mysis strategy seems to work well.

I just didn't get the results I think you are after with dry foods, Steve.

I find mixing cyclops flake into the mix helps keep colors better. I also prefer the "natural" NLS as opposed to the medicated version.

29reef - what species do you keep? (Sorry if I missed it somewhere)

My anthias have all become a bit less colorful over time as well, despite being fat and seemingly happy, I'll have to try this. Are you referring to the small granules? I'm not familiar with cyclops flakes.

I am keeping M. bartletts and P. squamipinnis.

The flake is made by Argent and is sold as "wafer" but its more like a flake mush.

My bartlett and dispar do not eat NLS pellets. The bartlett will take the pellets but spilt them right out after one or two attempts. The dispar ignore the pellets entirely.
