need some help My wife was at our local LFS and saw a sea apple. and I dont know a thing about them. our tank is 180 gal with about 200lbs of live rock with assorted soft corals and 7 small fish. water is good nitrates 0 nitrites 0 Amonia 0 calcium is 420 Ph is 8.3 temp is warm though at 81 most of the time. I think that is becouse of all the power heads and pumps. My question is can we keep a sea apple and will every thing else in the tank be ok.

Sea apples are very toxic and out of all the sea cucumber family members, they are also the most likely to release such toxins, which if they do, rank right up there with small nuclear devices. They also do not seem to do well, long term in most systems. oh, and 81 for a temp is not warm, a good average temp would be 82. I would avoid the temptation of getting one, as beautifull as they are, that coloration is also a vivid warning to predators of their potental to be really nasty.

They are a bit of a specialized feeder and one would most likely be difficult to maintain in anything but a dedicated system, and everthing chuck said.
