Sea Apples?

Hi guys, I was just wondering if anyone includes Sea Apples in their tanks? I have read that they can nuke a tank if they start to die, but wouldn't a good skimmer and a carbon reactor take care of that?

I have kept a few of them and never had an issue. I personally havn't had one die on me yet either though. It really has alot to do with your particular system. They like a medium to low amount of flow and should be fed phyto every once in a while. I used to turn my skimmer off for about an hour when I fed so that they had a good amount of time to filter the particles out of the water before the skimmer got them. Make sure there is plenty of live rock as options for them to cling to. If you have a good amount of volume and a carbon reactor, I would imagine you are probably pretty safe having one in your system. If one does die on you, just make sure and get it out asap.

I have sea apples too, but in separate tank as a precaution. From what I have seen on the web, if they die from natural causes, no problem. But if somebody/something tries to kill them or severe their body parts, they will kill offender too, before dying themselves.

They were moved to this tank (now it has more LR) because the first tank was overrun by aiptasia.

Since we don't know how to feed them, I would advise against a purchase. In case of death, they may "nuke" a tank.

First time I saw one at the LFS...(Before I knew anything about corals) ...I was like "Wow that's the coolest coral I've ever seen". But after a few years of knowledge into SW, it's one creature I'd definitely take caution of if I were to ever try one. In the wild, if I was a fish...I'd purposely bother it until it leaks it's poison lol....there's no way in hell that poison is going to cover the freakin' ocean lol.
