sea cucumber behavior

A friend of mine has a sea cucumber that is always on the glass at the top of the tank. The system is a reef system. To my knowledge, it should be on the bottom sifting the sand bed. I too have a cucumber and it has never ben on the glass or top of tank. Ay thoughts folks? All I know is that it is an eclipse 12 reef system that is a few months old.

mine is also always on the bottom, mostly stretched waaaay out at night but reclusive during the daytime

i have 5 in my tank. two are usually always at the top of the glass, with the others spread around on the rocks or sandbed. last night there was only one up on the glass, so I guess they do move around...

It depends what kind of cucumber it is. Can you give more details?

Some cukes are filter feeders and are usually on the glass like that. The little yellow ones come to mind.

Knowing what type of cuke it is would help.

just as an FYI, mine are the dull brown ones, w/ little spikes over them. the spikes are little suction cup arms, I think.
