Sea fan

Very interesting series of pictures!

While the seafan is growing well (tripled in size at least by now) it has continued to grow in random planes, not just one.

Is your water flow variable? In the ocean they are supposed to grow with the fans perpendicular to the current, so if the current changes directions, perhaps that is why you got the growth pattern you have.

FWIW, I've been looking into these as I consider the one that the Divers Den currently has:

Do you do anything special for it?

Oh wow, that's a nice piece. I would definitely pull the trigger on that one!

Yeah, I'm quite certain the growth of mine is due to the ever changing water flow pattern. The coral has been moved, the flow has been redirected, a vortech was added....etc etc.

Oh, sorry, I forgot to mention. I've kept a few photosynthetic gorgs over the years. The only ones that truly thrived/grew with zero added food specifically for them are this seafan, and the purple ribbon variety. So to answer your question, no, I do nothing special for it.

Hope you got it :) GL!
